VMware ESXi White Box – building the lab part1

Hi all,

enticed and inspired for about 1 year by Chris Wahl  [ http://wahlnetwork.com] for his home-lab, here it is:

Actually there’s not failover due to hw cost, system is build:

  • 1. CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 “Sandy Bridge” – 3.2GHz, 4 Cores, 8 Threads, 8MB
  • 2. Motherboard: Supermicro X9SCM-F – Intel C204, Dual GigE, IPMI w/Virtual Media, 2x SATA-3, 4x SATA-2
  • 3. RAM: 16GB (4 x 4GB) Kingston 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Server Memory Model
  • 4. USB-Stick: 16GB Supersonic Xpress USB 3.0 Flash Drive (PSF16GXPUSB)
  • 5. Power: Seasonic 400W 80 Plus Gold Fanless ATX12V/EPS12V Power Supply

I’m actually testing some NFS with my other NAS-build with FreeNAS some picture below:
